Some of our favorite exploration resources
The Kelp Forest: Above/Below
Tide Charts: For Safety & Surf
The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration is America’s ultimate source of nautical information including accurate tide charts that are critical for your exploration of California’s Cold Water Coast.
Redwoods: Go Old Growth
Plan a visit to the North Coast’s impressive redwood forests with Save the Redwoods League’s trip planner. We recommend this to get the most out of your exploration of California’s redwoods habitat (might even see some Ewoks).
Visit Cali: North Coast Guide
“Visit California” aka the California Tourism Bureau has an extensive list of North Coast must-see locations, along with calendars of events, and useful county information from San Francisco all the way up to Humboldt & Del Norte.
Farallones NMS: Shark HQ
Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary covers almost a thousand square miles north and west above San Francisco and includes the protection of entire ecosystems from shores to islands, for everything from whales and sharks to abalone.
NPS: Explore the Seashore
Check out the National Park Service for up to date information about Point Reyes National Seashore, Golden Gate Recreation Area, and Redwood National Park. We recommend NPS’s America the Beautiful Pass to access all national parks.
